Culture of Kuttanad

about in the early centuries of Christianity, also believed to have been founded by Saint Thomas the Apostle, is in Kuttanad.

The Hindu temples of Monkomp and Chakkulathukav and the Christian church of Edathua are well known centres of pilgrimage. In addition, there are numerous heritage sites of ancient temples, churches and ancestral homes built in traditional architectural styles dotting the entire landscape.

An ancient statue of Buddha located in the Karumadi village is a major attraction for the tourists. The unique beauty and charm of the land mingled with all the ancient centers of worship and architectural monuments have given Kuttanad a formidable place in the world tourism map.
